This month I discuss transgender and intersex identities, challenging the traditional religious view that human sex and gender are strictly binary. Drawing on biology, nature, and theology, I argue that human diversity—including being transgender or intersex—is a natural part of creation rather than a result of sin or a personal choice. Highlighting the heavy social, emotional, and physical costs faced by transgender individuals, I call on Christians to reject rigid categorization, practice radical empathy, and follow Jesus’ example by welcoming and loving marginalized people with dignity and compassion.
